A VISIT TO KLUANG

29th was the last Wednesday of September 2010. "Kakis", as we affectionately called ourselves, gathered at Kranji MRT station at 0830 for a trip to Kluang, a small town in Johor, Malaysia.

As usual, the penalty for reporting late was to be the B Chairman of the day, or "Breakfast Chairman". The "honour" fell on veteran Wong Chin Poh, who was late just by a few minutes. More about the breakfast later.

From Kranji, we took bus 170 to Malaysia. It was an interesting ride where we saw our MRT card "suspended" and "resumed" several times, saw the new immigration checkpoint in Malaysia  before we finally saw the nostalgic Lakin bus terminal. Nostalgic because it reminded me of bus terminals in my childhood days.

Breakfast time. Thanks to Wong, we filled our tummy before proceeding on - roti prata and coffee or tea to be exact. Chairman (not B Chairman) Lee then collected a sum of money from each kaki and bought the bus tickets for the trip to Kluang. After the eating and let-go, we waited for the bus departure time. Soon we were on our way.

TALK, talk and talk....and a 2 hour bus journey seemed very fast. Tng talked to me about the history of broacasting since the 1960s. Interesting. Somebody then shouted, "LOH CHIA LEOW....ji dao loh chia leow" Not wanting to be left behind, I quickly followed the group.

First visit - a Wine Arcade by the roadside. Then it was a long long walk to the restaurant; apparently a regular place for many as we were split into several groups and every one managed to find his way there.

The table was laid, the chairs were arranged and the bottoms comfortably rested.

The FOOD for TALKS then began.

Good Health to one and all

  3. GOT IT...Tony.

Try to encourage the others to comment. Lets take this as a chit chat platform instead of email. Currently I moderate the comments before publish. This may not be necessary since it is only for our walking kakis.
